Dim the lights
Soften the mood
In the darkness
You hear it?
Only your heart
The sound fills your ears
In the deafening silence
One after the other
Sustaining your being.
Dim the lights please
All of them
All you see is black
A cold shiver.
Does it beat faster?
Do you feel it now?
Each passing second
Waiting in anticipation
Is it really an option though?
Life is wonderful.
Will you give it up so easily?
Dim the lights
Shut them off
Let the darkness seep in
Filling up every nook every corner
The hollow within you
Let it rejoice
Let it overflow with this darkness
Feeding on it.
Hold on though
Don’t loose yourself yet
Giving up is not an option.
See that ray?
That ray within you?
Keep it close.
Have you shut the lights?
Now stand alone.
Don’t you see?
You are important to us
You matter to us
You are worth a lot to us.
That heartbeat of yours is music to your parent’s ears
Those eyes of yours reflect the beauty within your soul
That radiant smile of yours lights up the day of strangers
The kind and caring personality of yours warms the hearts of many.
We’re talking about you.
Are all that this world needs.
So feel that spark within you,
Let it crack through the darkness
Let it spring out
Breaking through your shell.
Blind the world with your light,
Let it only spread love and happiness
This world might become a better place.
The silent lake, stood quite still,
Observing the tourists pass by
The mountains high above, kissing the sky,
The birds resting nearby.
I climbed out of the vehicle
After that long, tiring journey
The breeze gently blowing in my hair,
My eyes captivated by the miracle that lay in front of me!
Standing completely mesmerised,
I walked towards the lake
That was surrounded by shabby, brown mountains,
But stood elegant in its place.
“It is a speechless sight”, I had heard
“And colourful in a different way”,
But to actually see the different shades of blue, green, red, made me then believe,
That it was the most wonderful lake!
As I strolled the edge, contemplating
The gifts of God to mankind,
It heard someone, call my name
And I realised it was getting late.
The sun’s last rays
Turned the water to gold,
And the Lake watched,
As yet another tourist
Turned their back on her.
Our boat made its way across the reservoir
The shore left far behind
Our destination, ahead
Engulfed in darkness.
As the cold breeze lashed against our frames.
Tightening the grip on our jackets
We looked ahead.
Moot outlines of terrain met our eyes
At the end of which rose an opalescent sky.
An endless sea of stars stretched above our heads
And the moon,
Beautiful and pale
Guiding us ahead.
Suddenly the hum of the engine faded away
Our whispers, turned into silence
This wasn’t something we experienced everyday
This wasn’t something we even knew existed.
The water gently lapped against the side of the boat
Slowly moving us forward
Into what seemed like foreign lands
Treasured and unexplored
She wrote about love she had never experienced
Those touches that sent her skin tingling, never felt
Those words that took away her breath, never heard
Those eyes lost in the other’s, never seen.
But yet she wrote about it all
Filling the blank pages of her book
So that someday when she read them again,
She would finally understand what they truly meant…
From the inside, we were both broken.
The jagged ridges of our souls, hence, fit perfectly together…
My eyes locked with his for a split second
But that was enough to get my heart racing,
A beautiful smile adorned his face
A playful sparkle lightened up his eyes.
Now etched in my mind as I turned away
Unable to focus as the moment replayed in my head.
It was just a glance thrown across the room
It was just a smile sent unknowingly my way
He was unaware of what he made me feel in that fleeting moment
How he had just made my day!
I have no idea of what the word LOVE means
All I know is the feeling inside me whenever I’m around you,
The feeling of loosing myself
In the eyes of another
The feeling of drowning
In the depths of beauty
The feeling of relishing
Every second of it all
The feeling of you
And only you
Completely consumes me
Fulfills my heart
Ignites my soul.
Are not a piece of my world
Are not a piece of my heart
Are not a piece of my soul
Are my world
Are my heartbeat
Are my soul.
Without which I’m incomplete
Without which I’m unknown…
